Work with Julie

Julie currently offers the following services:

For Individuals

One-on-one counseling sessions:

Let's book a free 15-minute phone call to ensure that we are a good fit to work together.

Once we determine we are a good fit, we will schedule an initial 90-minute session where we will develop an individual plan of care just for you. Your plan may include only individual sessions, or a combination of group and individual counseling.

I prefer to see people in person for the initial intake.  After the intake, you can transition to Telehealth video appointments.   It is not a mandate that we meet in person, but I think it is important to develop rapport with someone.

I utilize the Simple Practice Telehealth video platform.  You can also move back and forth between in person and Telehealth as your schedule allows after the intake.  I want to make therapy accessible for everyone, so I utilize Telehealth, but I do believe that in person care is the best care.

I am thrilled to report that my rescue dog, Sir Toasty, is undergoing training to be a therapy dog.  He generally is in the office with me every day and provides a reassuring presence just when it is needed.  If you are uncomfortable with dogs, please let me know I will make sure he is not present for your session.  If you are allergic to dogs, we will need to meet over telehealth.    He has completed Obedience Training, and does not jump, bark or generally lick anyone, unless he is invited to do so.   He is working out his own PTSD from his previous home, so he definitely understands fear and building trust slowly.   He is a very calming presence during what can be a stressful time.

Sir Toasty hard at work.

Sir Toasty, my therapy dog in training at work!

I’m so grateful to have found Julie and her sidekick, Sir Toasty!  I really appreciate the focus Julie places on utilizing mindfulness to manage day-to-day stress and crisis.  The DBT work we have been doing together is so powerful. I’m seeing things differently, and reacting to them differently, and as a result I’m noticing tangible improvements in my life almost immediately. While Julie shines on her own, something truly magical happens when she is accompanied by her partner, Sir Toasty, during in-person sessions.  His calming eyes will let you know that everything is going to be just fine, and when you need a little extra love and compassion, he will likely crawl up on the couch for a reassuring snuggle!  I’m so grateful my path has intertwined with this dynamic duo and I look forward to work we will continue doing.   Johanna Cosby

    New Client Journey

The following is a guide for what to expect
when you make the choice to engage in counseling with Julie.

If you are paying via your insurance

    1. Please schedule a free 15- minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. CLICK HERE to schedule your consult.
    2. After the consult, if you choose to schedule a session, you will need to verify your benefits with my  billing company THERAPIST SOLUTIONS.  You can call them at Phone: 877-535-9923  OR visit them online at:  https://www.therapistsolutions.net/for-patients/They will verify your benefits and inform you of any copays or deductibles you may have.
    3. Once THERAPIST SOLUTIONS verifies your information, I will receive an email from them and then send you an email with a calendar scheduling and patient portal link for SIMPLE PRACTICE, which is the service I use for my secure patient portal.
    4. Before we work together, you will need to complete your the new client portal information, this will need to be filled out before your first appointment through the Simple Practice Patient Portal online.  This includes, intake forms, consent for treatment, releases of information and some screening tools.

If you plan to use telehealth for your treatment, please fill out telehealth consent as well.

These documents will take about 20-30 minutes to read and complete. You can start and stop the process and return before signing. If you have any questions or concerns about the documents, please wait to sign and discuss at our first session.

PLEASE NOTE:  These documents will be stored in a secure patient chart at Simple Practice.

IMPORTANT: If you are prescribed any psychiatric medications, I need to have a Release Of Information on file to exchange information with your prescriber. I require this ROI to be a part of my practice. It is very important to have open communication with your medical providers. If you have other medical providers that you interact with regularly, such as a primary care provider or specialist, I would prefer to have releases for them as well.
    5. Once you complete your patient portal setup and complete all your documentation, you can go ahead and book your initial intake appointment – plan for 75- 90 minutes for this. I prefer to do this in person, even if we plan on doing telehealth after.  Please use the Simple Practice link to book your intake appointment and I will confirm this appointment by email.
    6. If you are looking to engage in group therapy only, you will still need to complete the process above and complete an initial intake with me before beginning any group treatment.

If at any time you are confused or have questions about the process, please reach out by phone at 508-876-2172.  I try to automate the client/patient intake process as much as possible, to reduce frustration at not being able to reach other through phone tag

    Do you accept health insurance?

Yes, I do accept several insurance plans, but you are responsible for any copays or deductibles for your plan. If you have questions about this, please call your insurance company for more information. If I do not accept your insurance plan, ask your insurance about the fees for seeing me as an out-of-network provider.  Click here to see the insurance companies I do work with.

If after our 15-minute introduction call, we are a good fit, I will have you reach out to my billing company who will work with you and your insurance company, you can learn more about the new client journey here.

    Can I pay you directly?

Yes, if you do not have insurance that covers outpatient counseling, I do not accept your insurance, or you simply do not want to bill your insurance, you can privately pay for each session. Please see the Services page for pricing details.

Do I have to schedule appointments every week?

No, you do not have to see my weekly. I recommend weekly sessions for most clients, but we can set up a schedule that works for you.

    Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes, I offer in-person and telehealth counseling. I prefer to meet with people in-person, but I want to make treatment accessible for everyone. However, telehealth sessions must include video, not just audio, so you must have access to a camera and sound. Most smart phones are fine for telehealth if you have privacy and good signal. We can also do a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions.  I do prefer to see someone in person for at least their initial intake.

Do you offer sessions by text?

No, I do not offer text counseling. You may use text for scheduling issues only.
