“I am a human being, meant to be in perpetual becoming. If I am living bravely, my entire life will become a million deaths and rebirths. My goal is not to remain the same but to live in a such a way that each day, year, moment, relationship, conversation, and crisis is the material I use to become a truer, more beautiful version of myself. “ ~ G. Doyle Untamed, 2020, page 77.

Are you looking for an experienced therapist/counselor who will give you the tools to help you manage your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

I am Julie Sanders, LICSW and I am a clinical social worker, with over 25 years of experience, who has learned to manage my own Type I Diabetes and other chronic health issues using skills learned from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), among other healing practices.

Julie Sanders, LICSW

If you are unfamiliar with DBT, it is a type of therapy that helps people build four major skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.

These are skills we should have learned in our youth to help us navigate intense pain from within and outside ourselves, but often learn as adults.

These skills focus on balancing acceptance and change. We must always be looking at the duality in life. On the one hand, you are doing the best you can right now, at this moment. On the other hand, you can always do better at something. Holding both truths together side by side is the challenge. This is the definition of dialectical: holding two opposite truths side by side. It is amazing how these skills can help you on your journey of recovery and healing!

Taking a holistic approach to your wellness is a key to true health.

This means addressing your body, mind, spirit, and social needs as part of the work we will do together. Always looking to create balance, where we determine there is imbalance.

My goal is for you to thrive, not just survive, whatever challenges the universe has put in your path.

I am committed to teaching you a new tool or skill at every session. I believe that if you are not learning in therapy, then you are not growing. Discussing your life with a non-judgmental, compassionate counselor is at the core of good therapy, but talking will only get you so far. If you want to truly heal, you need to be ready to change aspects of your life that are keeping you from thriving.

Are you ready to take that journey?
